Behave like a female, i.e. all the tenderness of a female–a man doesn’t want a man for his wife!

Dress pleasantly/attractively. If you are a home-maker, don’t stay in your sleeping suit all day.

Smell good!

Don’t lay out all your problems on your husband as soon as he walks in. Give him a little mental break.

Don’t keep asking him, “what are you thinking?”

Stop nagging non-stop before Allah ta’ala gives you something really to complain about.

Absolutely no talking about your spousal problems to anyone you meet, not even under the pretense of seeking help! If you think you want to solve legitimate marital issues, then go seek counseling with the right person who can give advice in either:

Mediate any injustice done so any wrong can be corrected and the couple can reunite in harmony, or

Amicable divorce

Be kind to your mother-in-law the same way you would like your husband to be kind to your own mother.

Learn all the rights and obligations of each other in Islam. Focus on fulfilling your obligations, not demanding your rights

Race to the door when he comes home, as if you were waiting for him. Smile and hug him.

Keep your house clean, at least to the level that he wants it.

Compliment him on the things you know he’s not so confident about (looks, intelligence, etc.) This will build his self-esteem.

Tell him he’s the best husband ever.

Call his family often.

Give him a simple task to do at home and then thank him when he does it. This will encourage him to do more.

When he’s talking about something boring, listen and nod your head. Even ask questions to make it seem like you’re interested.

Encourage him to do good deeds.

If he’s in a bad mood, give him some space. He’ll get over it, inshaAllah.

Thank him sincerely for providing you with food and shelter. It’s a big deal.

If he’s angry with you and starts yelling, let him yell it out while you’re quiet. You will see your fight will end a lot faster. Then when he’s calm, you can tell him your side of the story and how you want him to change something.

When you’re mad at him, don’t say “YOU make me furious”, rather, “This action makes me upset”. Direct your anger to the action and circumstance rather than at him.

Remember that your husband has feelings, so take them into consideration.

Let him chill with his friends without guilt, especially if they’re good guys. Encourage him to go out, so he doesn’t feel “cooped up” at home.

If your husband is annoyed over a little thing you do (and you can control it), then stop doing it. Really.

Learn how to tell him what you expect without him having to guess all the time. Learn to communicate your feelings.

Don’t get mad over small things. It’s not worth it.

Make jokes. If you’re not naturally funny, go on the internet and read some jokes, and then tell them to him.

Tell him you’re the best wife ever and compliment yourself on certain things you know you’re good at.

Learn to make his favorite dish.

Don’t ever, EVER talk bad about him with friends or family unnecessarily. If they end up agreeing with you, you will see that it hits you back in the face because you get more depressed that you have a bad husband–and other people also think you have a bad husband.

Use your time wisely and get things accomplished. If you’re a home-maker, take online classes and get active in your community. This will make you happy and a secondary bonus is that it impresses your husband.

Do all of the above fee sabeelillah and you will see Allah put barakah in everything you do.

Husband and wife should discuss and communicate with wisdom with each other to convey what they like and dislike of each other to do or not to do. Do NOT give commands or instructions like he’s your servant. “They are garment to each other” [Surah Baqarah, 2:187]

Tell your husband you love him, many, many times. Aisha (رضالله عنها) narrated that the Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) used to ask her how strong her love for him, she said like “a knot.” And the next time he would ask her, “How is that knot?” He also used to reply to her saying, “Jazzakillah, O Aishah, wallahi, you have not rejoiced in me as I have rejoiced in you.”

Have a race with your husband and let him win, even if you are much fitter and stronger than him.

Keep fit and take care of your health so you will remain a strong mother, wife, cook and housekeeper, inshaAllah you will not get FAT and frumpy.

Refine and cultivate good mannerisms i.e do not whine, don’t laugh or talk too loud or walk like an elephant.

Do not leave the house without his permission and certainly not without his knowledge.

Make sure all his clothes are clean and pressed so he is always looking fresh and crisp.

Don’t discuss important/controversial matters with him when he is tired or sleepy. Find right time for right discussion.

The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.

Always let him know that you appreciate him working and bringing home the “dough”. It makes it easier for him to go to work.

Make sure you ALWAYS have something for dinner.

Brush your hair, everyday.

Don’t forget to do laundry.

Surprise him with gifts. Even necessities, such as new shoes, can be gifts.

Listen to him. (Even when he talks about extremely boring things like basketball or computers.)

Try (hard as it might be) to take interest in his hobbies.

Try not to go shopping too much … and spend all his money.

Look attractive and be seductive towards him. Flirt with him.

Learn tricks and “techniques” to please your husband in intimacy. (Of course goes both ways.)

Prepare for special evenings with him with special dinner and exclusive time (no children permitted).

Take care of your skin, especially your face. The face is center of attraction.

If you not satisfied intimately, talk to him and tell him. Help him or provide resources, don’t wait until matters become worse.

Ask Allah to strengthen and preserve the bonds of compassion and love between the two of you, every day, every prayer. Ask him to protect that bond from Shaytaan. When a lesser devil destroys the love between spouses, he is the most beloved of Shaytaan. Nothing works like du’ah, and love only exists between spouses where Allah instills it.

Don’t EVER compare your husbands to other husbands! For example don’t say, “well her husband doesn’t do that, why do you …” (thats a killer!)

Be happy with what you have because no one is perfect. If you want perfection, wait until you enter Jannah together inshaAllah–and of course, vice versa!

Strive for Allah’s love first and foremost! if all wives try to seek Allah’s love and pleasure, surely, they can keep their husbands love too. And remember–if Allah loves you, the angels will love you, and the entire creation will love you.

If you pack a lunch for your husband to take to work, from time to time sneak in a little love note or sweet poem. If he doesn’t take a lunch, leave the note somewhere else for him to find, like in his briefcase, or wallet or on the car steering-wheel

Wake him up for Qiyam ul-Layl (in the last third of the night) and ask him to pray with you.

May Allah preserve all of our marriages and help us understand and implement them in and with the best of manners, ameen! InshaAllah if you know more ways, post them in the comments and share the benefit.

There are two types of will of Allah:

1. General will for creation (Al-Irada’ Al-Qowniyyah Al-Qadariyyah)

This is the type of will by which Allah created creation and decreed life and death and good and bad irrespective of His love for good and hate for bad. It is by this will that he created Iblees, sin and transgression.

2. Specific will for that which Allah loves (Al-Irada’ Ash-Shar’iyyah Ad-Deeniyyah)

This is the type of will by which Allah decrees only that which he desires and loves. It is this will by which He desires Islam and wants the non-muslims to accept Islam.

Both wills are equal. However we look at them independently and ask which will of Allah is involved in any incident. Sometimes Allah wishes to exercise one of His wills over another.

Example:

An incident, where a Muslim becomes a non-Muslim. This decree is not by the specific will which Allah loves. Rather, it is by the general one. Likewise, Allah (swt) is the one who created shaitan (and iblees), however this was from the general will of Allah (for creation) and not from the specific will of Allah (for love, like or desire).

Washing the hands – a Sunnah of the Ambiya (Prophets)

1. Abdullah ibn Abbas (ra) narrates that the Prophet (saws) said: “Washing the hands before and after meals repels poverty, and it is a Sunnah of all the Ambiya” (Majma of At-Tabarani, Vol 5, Page 13)

2. Anas (ra) relates that the Prophet (saws) said: “The person who desires that his home be filled with goodness should wash his hands before and after partaking of meals.” (Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol.2, Page 234);

3. Salman al-Farisi (ra) relates that he read in the Tawrah that washing the hands after meals was a source of prosperity.  He related this to the Prophet (saws), who said to him: “Washing the hands before as well as after meals is a source of barakah or blessings” (Shama’il, Page 12);

Washing the hands before and after meals is a Sunnah. Even if a person’s hands are clean, he should still wash them. Hadith number 3 talks about ’barakah‘. The barakah mentioned here is that the noble purpose for which we are eating will be fulfilled. The food will become a beneficial part of our bodies, and aid us in doing good deeds and displaying good character. Barakah also means that an increase will be perceieved in that food.

An amazing story pertaining to this Sunnah

A pious man narrated that he had a debt of 300 pounds, and due to straigtened circumstances, he could not imagine how he would ever be releived of his burden. Sitting one day in the discourse of an Aalim, he heard him say that whoever washes his hands before and after eating, in view of it being a Sunnah of the Prophet (saws), will Insha-Allaah be releived of his debts in a short span of time. The pious man adopted the above procedure, and through the grace of Allah (swt), he was absolved of all his debts in a few days time (narrated in Uswah, page 9)

Comment: From the hadith of Hudayfah in Al-Bukhari, we know that one of the ten Major signs of the closeness of the Day of Judgement is The rising of the sun from the West. The article below seems to suggest the hadith has two meanings, an apparant meaning (ma’na haqiqi) and a metaphorical meaning (ma’na majazi). The apparent meaning is that the sun will literally rise from the West (one day). The metaphorical meaning is that there will be a big revival of Islam in the West. We know that in many parts of Europe e.g. Turkey, Bosnia, Kosova – Islam is on the rise once more, also in many parts of western europe. May Allah (swt) protect the muslims wherever they are! Ameen.

Islamist leader in Palestine boastful after Britain stats list most popular baby names

Aaron Klein, WND

Statistical information released yesterday showing Muhammad is the no. 2 most popular boys name in Britain “proves Islam is becoming the majority in the UK and will one day enter every house in Europe,” a senior Islamist leader told WND in an interview.

Hamed Abdel-Al said statistical trends showing Muslims are gaining a major foothold in the UK show there is no need for violence to spread Islam.

“In Europe there is no need for war because if people keep on joining Islam in these countries then Islam will become the majority, which I think is the process that is taking place now, so there will not be any necessity to have war with (non-Muslims),” he said.

“Prophet Mohammad, may Allah bless him, said that the sun will shine from the west. This will physically happen as part of the signs of Judgment Day and it will practically happen as part of a big revival of Islam,” said Hamad. “Islam … may start its new campaign from the West.”

Comment: It was western society that made these people criminals and sent them to prison in the first place. Islam gave them a new start in life and made them take responsibility for their actions not only in this life but in the life to come, and made them balanced citizens upon leaving prison able to contribute back to society.

The Muslim prison population in England and Wales has sharply increased in recent years. The BBC’s Ushma Mistry hears from former inmates and prison officers who claim gangs of Muslim prisoners are an increasingly powerful force.

“Muslims run it. Muslims run the prisons and there’s nothing the screws can do about it. For a Muslim you’d say it’s good but for a non-Muslim, it’s very, very bad,” a former inmate called Jay says.

It is a claim which is backed by former prison officers and other inmates.

Jay, 24, is a Muslim and has been in and out of prison for most of his life. He openly admits to helping to convert non-Muslim inmates to Islam and has meted out violence against anyone who dares to “disrespect” his religion.

He first went to prison when he was 15 and said there were hardly any Muslims inmates back then.

“At the beginning not many knew about Islam. There weren’t many converts. The mosque was empty, but nowadays jails are run mostly by the Muslims,” he said.

“There are certain brothers that convert purely on the basis that they read Islam and they want to believe in something that does good for them. Then other people because they want to be looked after.

“I’ve been in jail five times and on my last occasion, I’ve seen jails being run by Muslim inmates.

“Muslim prayers on a Friday are very, very busy. In some prisons there’s no space. In one jail I was in, they do the prayers in two sessions because there’s no space.”

Intimidating

Muslims represent 12% (9,795) of the prison population in England and Wales, according to the latest available figures from 2008. This has risen by 50% over five years.

In some high security prisons, the figures are well above average.

In 2008, Muslim prisoners accounted for a third (34%) of prisoners in HMP Whitemoor, in March, Cambridgeshire, and about a quarter (24%) of inmates in HMP Long Lartin, in Evesham, Worcestershire.

Speaking anonymously, a former prison officer, who worked at HMP Long Lartin, told the Donal MacIntyre programme about cases where non-Muslim prisoners were seriously assaulted and intimidated for refusing to abide by unofficial rules imposed by Muslim gangs, about eating pork or listening to Western music.

“Muslim gangs was something I was very concerned about – the situation changed where underworld gangsters who used to keep discipline and order were no longer in charge in the prison,” she said.

“The younger guys, who were being forced to convert, were doing it more for protection from a Muslim gang rather than follow the faith – most of them weren’t interested in the faith.

“I knew one lad quite well who was approached by the radical Muslims, and he changed. He just seemed very frightened all the time.

“He used to be forced to pray at certain times and I know for a fact they would be woken in the middle of the night to pray.

“He even grew a long beard even though he didn’t want to. I asked him why he grew the beard and he said ‘It’s survival miss, survival’”.

Physical retribution

Colin Moses, national chairman of prison workers’ trade union, the POA, said not all Muslims in prison were in gangs, but acknowledged there was a growing problem.

“People are being radicalised, forcibly radicalised by these gangs. We see it as a real danger, now and for the future of prisons,” he said.

And, he pointed out that those who were in gangs or converted to Islam often did it to carry out criminal activities.

“As the Muslim population grows, the gangs are becoming more and more prevalent by the week and they fight to take control of the drug trade and the dealing of mobile phones in prison.

“This will make our prisons even more violent,” he added.

Violence is something familiar to former inmate Jay, who admits to physical retribution on fellow inmates who he deemed to have disrespected Islam.

“It hurts as a Muslim to have someone disrespect my religion. If we deal with him one time, with violence, and show him what time it is, he will never disrespect our religion again,” he said.

He also believes prison officers have much to learn about Islam.

“Islam is a very sensitive matter. And the screws don’t understand that. I respect what the screws do but they’ve got to understand our ways, where we’re coming from,” he added.

‘Wealth of experience’

POA chairman Colin Moses recognises there are some shortcomings in prison staff’s understanding of Muslim inmates.

“We must be given the resources to face these gangs, and one of those must be a greater knowledge of the Muslim religion,” he said.

“And we must see, I believe, a greater input of Muslim prison officers – we have very few and in some prisons none whatsoever.

“Currently I believe there is a gulf in that knowledge base, and there should be an attempt to eradicate this by the Ministry of Justice.”

In a statement, a Prison Service spokesman said the allegations made about Muslim gangs were unsubstantiated.

“It is ridiculous to suggest that any gang ‘controls’ a prison,” he said.

He went on to say: “The Prison Service has a wealth of experience in dealing with gang activity and managing prisoners who form gangs.

“It is important not to conflate security issues with the prisoners’ religious identities. ‘Muslim gangs’ will be treated like other gangs in relation to security concerns.

“Violence is not acceptable in prison and any incidents will be investigated thoroughly and dealt with accordingly, with support from the police where appropriate.

“We have a programme of work in place to respond to the risks of all forms of radicalisation and extremism in prisons (not only al-Qaeda influenced extremism).

“This work will continue to develop to support prisons in tackling this behaviour.”

“Picture” or “sooratun” refers to all animate drawings, forms, pictures and photos, whether they cast a shadow or not, unless they are in a degraded position (i.e. a picture on a floor covering that is trodden on). The occupants of such a dwelling are deprived of the presence of angels and their prayers and their seeking forgivgesness for them.

Angels do not enter places containing animate pictures because animate forms are often taken for worhip. The Messenger of Alaah (swt) said: “Those who make (draw, print or publish animate pictures will be punished on the day of judgement and it will said to them: Bring to life what you have created. “Angels” here refer to guardian angels (hafaza) and angels of mercy, and not the angel of death, who calls upon people at their appoointed time wherever they are. The reason for angels not entering where dogs are present is because dogs are considered filthy. Also, some dogs have been referred to as devils in the hadiths. Inanimate pictures such as scenery, buildings,

The following is a list of what the scholars of ‘Ahl Sunnah wal Jama’ah’ agree to be known from the Deen by necessity. They are points the Qur’an and the Sunnah have mentioned in definite terms with clear-cut meanings, and there is no disagreement amongst the Scholars of the Salaf or the Khalaf regarding these points.

1.Al Iman Bil Allah

You must believe in Allah (SWT), meaning to believe that He is Existent and not Non-existent; Beginninglessly Eternal, not originating in or subject to time or space; Everlastingly Abiding, not subject to end; Dissimilar to and other than anything within time or space, nothing in any way resembling Him. Allah says in the Qur’an:‘Say: He is Allah, the One and Only, The Unique; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He egetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him.’ [EMQ al Ikhlas 112: 1-4]

‘There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All Hearing, the All Seeing.’ [EMQ as Shuraa 42: 11]

‘And do not put forward any similitude for Allah. Indeed, Allah knows and you do not know.’ [EMQ an Nahl 16: 74]

2. At Tawheed

You must believe Allah is One and Unique, without co-sharer in His Essence, Names, Attributes, or Actions; Possessed of Almighty Power, Will, Knowledge, Life, Hearing, Sight, Speech, such that He is Almighty, and Wills, Knows, Lives, Hears, Sees, and Speaks. (The details of Tawheed and its conditions are given in Appendix Five).

3. Al Iman Bil Malaa’ikah

We are obliged to know about certain individual Angels: Jibreel, Mika’il, Israfeel, Munkar,

The Almighty says: “Mankind were one community and Allah sent Prophets with glad tidings and warnings and with them he sent the Book in truth to judge between people in matters wherein they differed.” [EMQ al Baqara 2:213]

CAIRO — Sunni Islam’s top cleric Sheikh Mohammed Sayed Tantawi, a controversial figure in Egypt, died on Wednesday in Saudi Arabia of a heart attack suffered while boarding a plane, state media said.

Tantawi, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar — Sunni Islam’s highest seat of learning — had been in Riyadh to attend the King Faisal awards ceremony, Egypt’s official MENA news agency said.

Tantawi, 81, was boarding an early morning flight when he suffered severe pain and fell on the stairs, Egyptian television said. He was rushed to the Amir Sultan hospital in Riyadh where doctors pronounced him dead.

An Egyptian official told AFP that Tantawi had died of a heart attack.

The news of his death was “an indescribable shock,” his son Amr Tantawi told the channel.

“The family has decided that since God chose for him to die on Saudi land, he will be buried in Al-Baqie” cemetery in Islam’s second holy city of Medina, he added.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who is also 81 and recovering in Germany after a gall bladder operation, mourned the death of Tantawi.

The Grand Imam was “one of the most honourable scholars in Islam, and one of the defenders of its moderation, enlightenment and spirit of forgiveness,” Mubarak, said in a statement carried by MENA.

Tantawi was appointed head of Al-Azhar, the 10th century university that has trained the majority of Sunni Muslim clerics from Africa and Asia, by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in 1996.

“The Islamic and Arabic world has lost a scholar and a jurisprudent” who was “dedicated to his work and to everything that served the good of Islam and Muslims,” Al-Azhar said.

The softly spoken cleric with a trim white beard, who was always seen wearing a traditional Azharite white turban, has long been a controversial figure in Egypt.

His rulings on a wide range of topics, such as the Islamic veil, abortion, suicide attacks, women prayer leaders and female circumcision, often caused a stir in the Islamic world and beyond.

Many however saw him as an employee of the state who moved Al-Azhar, which is tasked with propagating Islamic culture and religion around the world, in line with government policy.

“He was the weakest head of Al-Azhar ever because he saw himself only as a government employee,” Islamist and political analyst Kamal Habib told AFP.

“His tenure saw a severe deterioration in Egypt’s political life, and as a result a deterioration of the religious institution because of its links with politics,” said Abdel Halim Qandil, a leading opposition figure.

“Many did not appreciate the fact that Tantawi was involved in the country’s political affairs. But he was brave,” said Mohammed al-Hizbi, 32, an Indonesian student at Al-Azhar.

Last October, a national row broke out after Tantawi banned the niqab, or full face veil, in all residences and schools affiliated to Al-Azhar, except in classrooms where the teacher is male.

Many of his other rulings have also been controversial.

In 2003, he said suicide bombers were “enemies of Islam,” adding that “extremism is the enemy of Islam.”

After the September 11 attacks on the United States, Tantawi said: “It’s not courage in any way to kill an innocent person, or to kill thousands of people, including men and women and children.”

He also rejected Osama bin Laden’s call for a jihad, or holy war, against the West.

The top cleric also sparked controversy in 2008 after shaking hands with Israeli President Shimon Peres at a religious conference.

Pictures of the handshake during the UN-sponsored religious dialogue caused a furore in Egypt, where a 1979 peace treaty with Israel remains highly unpopular.

He said at the time he did not know the octogenarian Peres.

“The Jews and the Christians will never be pleased with you until you follow their Creed (and become disbeleivers like them)” [EMQ 2:120]

The above Quranic verse gives us an insight into understanding the latest attacks on the IFE group by Channel 4′s the Dispatches programme. It indicates to us that no amount of ‘moderateness’ will ever be enough for the disbelievers – they will continue to be displeased with you, until you become like them and leave your religion! I find the whole event quite ironic. It was these same Kuffar who pushed for Muslims to assimilate more (by funding and strengthening groups such as the IFE against other ‘islamist’ parties) and when they do, they accuse them of ‘infiltrating’ the political process! This is the hypocrisy of democracy and freedom. All of this illustrates a wider view that secular Britain has one rule for Muslims, and another for everyone else.

Muslims are standing up to fundamentalist organisations such as the Islamic Forum of Europe. We should do the same, writes Andrew Gilligan.

By Andrew Gilligan

The East End has one of the best local papers in Britain, a genuine mirror of its community. But curiously, this week’s issue seems to have missed a story which has been making some serious waves in that very community. One of the local MPs, Labour’s Jim Fitzpatrick, was quoted in The Sunday Telegraph, and on national television, as saying that his party had been infiltrated by a secretive, fundamentalist organisation, the Islamic Forum of Europe – which he compares to the Militant Tendency in the 1980s.

At the same time, the area’s other MP, George Galloway, was quoted – albeit on a secretly recorded tape – as saying that the IFE played a “decisive role” in his election victory, and admitting that he owes them “more than it would be wise… for me to say”. Lutfur Rahman, the council leader in Tower Hamlets, repeatedly refused to deny that the IFE helped him win the leadership. And the reports also pointed out that a great deal of public money has been channelled to IFE-linked projects, causing council officers major concerns.

The IFE, based at the hardline East London mosque, claims to be an “open and tolerant” social welfare institution. In fact, as undercover reporters for Channel 4′s Dispatches found, it is working, in its own words, to change the “very infrastructure of society, its institutions, its culture, its political order and its creed… from ignorance to Islam”. It may not manage that – but it has already won significant political power over a multiracial community through democratic, secular parties whose values are diametrically opposed to its own.

I admit an interest – I made the programme, and wrote The Sunday Telegraph report. But I think I know why others are reluctant to address the issues we raised. That reason is fear. In six months of research, we spoke to dozens of people in the Tower Hamlets Labour Party. Almost everyone who talked to us said exactly the same thing – but no one, save Mr Fitzpatrick, was brave enough to say it on the record.

Graham Taylor, the chairman of the party, has been forced to make a grovelling apology for suggesting that the town hall was a “centre of Islamic fundamentalism” (he says the comment was meant ironically). Rushanara Ali, the Labour candidate in Mr Galloway’s Bethnal Green & Bow constituency, is a secular moderate. But she issued a weaselly statement which can be read, as it was no doubt intended, as an attack on Mr Fitzpatrick, who represents the neighbouring constituency of Poplar and Canning Town.

In the back of every politician’s mind lurks the fear that taking on the IFE will cost them votes. In the back of every journalist’s mind is the knowledge that writing anything even faintly questioning of the East London mosque will incur tedious correspondence with its hair-trigger libel lawyers. In the back of every white person’s mind lurks the fear of the IFE’s favoured charge, “Islamophobia”.

Dispatches‘s answer to that charge is that 70 per cent of our interviewees were Muslim. The most important people in the film are the locals of the area – Harmuz Ali, the vice-chairman of the Brick Lane mosque, Badrul Islam, the chief executive of the Ethnic Minority Enterprise Project, and many others. They reject the IFE, knowing better than anyone that it does not represent their community. They dismiss as nonsense the claim that any attack on it is an attack on Islam itself.

Interestingly, too, the IFE’s and the mosque’s response to the reports has so far been rather more muted than their pre-publication threats would suggest. The Muslim community of East London is calling the IFE’s bluff. Given the importance of this issue, it is time for others to find similar courage.
